Education

School visits

Bede's World Education Service offers a range of sessions for schools. These are designed both to satisfy the needs of teachers following the National Curriculum, and to enable pupils to explore the potential of the museum, site and farm to the full. Visits include hands-on activities, handling boxes and dressing up.

All of the education sessions are led by a fully trained, Disclosure-checked, member of the Education Service, and run for around 1 hour 45 minutes. All materials are provided unless otherwise stated. The current visits are:

All visits incorporate cross-curricular key skills, such as Thinking Skills and Problem Solving.

We are also developing visits for KS3-4 which include a vocational element such as our Enterprise and Leisure and Tourism visits. We are always happy to accommodate your requirements. Please contact us to discuss how we can include other subject areas or special needs.

Costs and times

A full day visit to Bede’s World runs from 10.00am until 2.45pm and includes two taught sessions of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

A half day session runs from 10.00am until 11.45am or from 1.00pm until 2.45pm.

  • £4.50 + VAT per child for a full day
  • £3.00 + VAT per child for a half day

An indoor lunch room may be booked for a single fee of £5.00.

YOU MUST bring 1 adult per 10 children, or 1 per 8 if visiting the farm. These adults get in free. Extra adults are charged at £2.55 plus VAT.
