Father's Day at Bede's World - with a morning of Archery followed by a beer tasting session - was enjoyed by all who attended.
From those that had pre-booked a ticket for themselves - making sure they didn't miss out, to those who opened their Father's Day card and found they had been booked into Bede's World for the morning, an enthusiastic group of archers greeted them and began with the basics of shooting, sorry drawing, an arrow.
After five minutes, everyone had settled into their stride and that bullseye target was getting ever closer, until finally, that illusive yellow centre was pierced by the bow, and confidence, of a Father who had been closing in one concentric band at a time.
Yes it was Father's Day - but that didn't stop one daughter picking up up the challenge of taking on her father! Just minutes after picking up a bow, another bullseye was in the bag for the group, complete with applause for the young lady.
Archery was followed by a beer tasting session, held by Barry Gutteridge, sharing his time and experience from working in a local micro-brewery. After sampling both local and national real ales, the more daring Fathers opted for a special mix of their own, blending similar beers and sharing their thoughts with the rest of the group.
No doubt a few wives will wonder why their husband is spending so much time in the garage in the near future - all that we know is that the wall's of Bede's World are silent and no mention of "Home Brewing" was uttered.
