Map & directions
Bede's World is at Jarrow in north-east England on the south bank of the River Tyne and close to the city of Newcastle upon Tyne.
We are located 2 minutes from the A19 Tyne Tunnel south entrance (it is a toll tunnel) and about a twenty minute walk from the Bede Metro Station on the Newcastle - South Shields line of the Tyne and Wear Metro.
Buses and taxis run from Jarrow Metro Station - a 5 minute drive from the museum. Bus services 526 and 527 stop close to the museum and usually run every half hour:
Buses from Jarrow Metro Station going in the direction of South Shields stop near Bede's World before they reach the Tyne Dock stop listed on the timetables.
Visitors arriving at the Tyne on the Scandinavian or Amsterdam ferries should cross the river by the Tyne Tunnel.
For the Coach Driver's attention
Bede's World has a designated coach and car park situated on the opposite
side of the road to Bede's World Museum and signposted from Church Bank. A
pedestrian crossing gives safe access for visitors across Church Bank to
Bede's World. For everyone's safety, please ensure that visitors/pupils are
dropped off and picked up inside the car/coach park and not at the entrance.
The car park which is adjacent to Bede's World is for disabled drivers and
it is not possible to manoeuvre a coach around this car park.
All school visits commence in the museum, therefore it is no longer
necessary to use the lay-by on Church Bank or the parking area near St
Paul's Church.
