A wave of excitement swept over Bede's World last week as we were visited byHRH The Duke of Gloucester. Patron to Bede's World, The Duke was updated on the latest developments of the Weamouth-Jarrow World Heritage site bid  and gave his support during the day.   Throughout his visit The Duke met with a number of community volunteers alonmg with key members of South Tyneside Council and the local business community, who have supportedthe work of the museum through donating their time, knowledge and skills.

The Duke also joined a group of children from St.Aloysius Primary School for an informal lesson in the art of calligraphy.  Our Director, Mike Benson, said' The Duke's visit gave the World Heritage Site Bid a tremendous boost and he was very generous with his time.
