In a book of this kind, a reviewer can have fun seeking omissions or inadequate descriptions. I have played this game over several hours and I find that, for such a wide-ranging reference work, this one seems commendably free of fault... I welcome the reintroduction of this painstakingly compiled handbook

It is good to salute a reprint of the Handbook of British Archaeology by Lesley and Roy Adkins, originally published in 1982 as A Thesaurus of British Archaeology... It soon established itself as a classic work of reference with over 500 line drawings, and it is good to see that it is now in print again.
