Step through the door of the museum and into the world in which Bede lived and worked. Fascinating fun for all the family, the museum begins with a permanent “Age of Bede” exhibition that tells the story of life over 1300 years ago. Finds from the excavation at St. Paul’s monastery give an insight into Anglo-Saxon life – with remarkable stained-glass windows, Europe’s largest early collection of its kind, being amongst the display.
Your path through the museum is followed by Bede’s narrative, with translated quotes adorning the walls helping to tell Bede’s thoughts and interpretations.
Be greeted by the enchanting sound of monks singing before listening to Bede’s thoughts and discoveries in our sound pods. Throughout the year, we also have several temporary exhibitions on display. Keep up to date by subscribing to our newsletter, or on our What's On page!
